Dani Ceballos has announced his departure from Arsenal after his loan spell with Real Madrid came to an end. The midfielder showed flashes of the consistency that convinced Arsenal to sign him from Real Madrid, but his time in north London was always deceiving.
Ceballos struggled to hit the back of the net in the Premier League in each of his seasons at the club, contributing just five assists. It was a disappointing return for a player known for his inventiveness.
Dani Ceballos Thanks Arsenal
Ceballos thanked Arsenal and their supporters for their help during a “difficult” year before leaving for his homeland of Spain.
Ceballos wrote on Instagram, “Thank you Arsenal and all Gunners for embracing me with such love from the first day I wear this uniform, for allowing me to enjoy the feeling of being a Gunner, and for allowing me to be a member of your family for all these years.
A difficult year has come to an end for a variety of reasons. Particularly because we missed out on the opportunity to watch our home matches in the Emirates with our fans. Nonetheless, I promise you that I can never forget your kindness and encouragement at all times. I am certain that Arsenal, as a historic and fantastic unit, will soon be back on top, winning titles and serving as a guide, as it always has been. This club, and especially its fans, deserve it, and I am sure that they will get it.
Thank you to all of the team’s members: coaches, kit guys, medical personnel, communications, and publicity staff, executives, administrators, and, most importantly, fans. I want you to know that for this crest and this shirt, I have always worked hard and given it my all. I wish you the best of luck and the performance that I am sure would come your way.”
The 24-year-old will return to his parent club, but his future remains uncertain. He has two years left on his six-year contract signed in 2017, but he has done nothing to boost his portfolio since spending two seasons on loan away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
