Arsenal technical director Edu revealed his admiration for Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta after the club is strongly linked with the midfielder. He has been linked with a move away from the French club with Arsenal being the frontrunners for his signature. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed earlier this month that they have received bids from a number of clubs seeking his services.
“I’m very respectful when I talk about Lucas [Paqueta]. I’m a guy who likes him a lot, I’ve always liked him, since my time with Brazil’s national team,” Arsenal technical director Edu said about Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta. “He’s had a great season, he was considered the best [overseas] player in the French league. But today, there really isn’t any kind of talk, there’s only my admiration for the player, because the squad today is, in the position he plays, I think we’re very well served in this regard.”
“There are proposals for him. There are certain players who can feel complete in the project, and others who don’t,” Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said. “Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and objectives. The coach gave us his opinion and there is also what the players want to do.”
Meanwhile, Juventus boss Massimilano Allegri believes that midfielder Weston McKennie is the best American player in Europe. The midfielder has since gone from strength to strength, earning a loan move to Juventus in 2020 which was made permanent a year later. McKennie has played 75 times for the Old Lady so far, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists.
“McKennie is probably the best American player playing in Europe,” Allegri said of McKennie. “I think it’s very important for him to continue showing the high levels that he has at Juve.”
