Bundesliga News|Raul Coaching Career
Raul began coaching after retiring from playing in 2015, and after re-joining his boyhood club in 2018, this time as a mentor in their academy, he has steadily built a name for himself in Spain.
Real’s young players won the UEFA Youth League under Raul’s leadership last year before the club gave their former talisman the reins at RM Castilla.
Raul has excelled at his former club in the last year. And Eintracht believes he is the ideal candidate to fill their soon-to-be-vacated head coach vacancy. He is already acquainted with German football after his time at Schalke.
Some see Raul as a natural successor to Real Madrid’s new coach Zinedine Zidane. But Zidane’s deal lasts until 2022, and Eintracht wants Raul to take over before the 2021/22 season.
If Zidane stays put this summer, Eintracht believes there might be a chance to entice Raul away from Madrid. Raul’s football resume is not his only selling point as a coach. He has coached emerging stars Miguel Gutierrez, Sergio Arribas, Chust, and Antonio Blanco.
Raul climbed from Real Madrid’s youth ranks to become a legend. He scored 323 goals and winning six La Liga titles during his time there.
RM Castilla is presently competing for a place in Spain’s second tier. And all further negotiations with Eintracht will be put on hold before the end of the season.
