Bengaluru FC owner Parth Jindal believes the club did not cope well without fans in the stadium. They enjoyed three successful campaigns in the first three seasons of the Indian Super League, shattering a number of records on the way. After the success, they have undergone a transition period where a number of experienced players hung up their boots. Jindal revealed that it was tough to find a solution to the transition period as they finished seventh in the league. They did show some grit last season, reaching the semi-finals of the Hero Indian Super League.
“It’s been a difficult few years. I believe that whenever you are successful and very successful, which we were in the first two seasons of the ISL, there is a period of transition. During this time, we lost many of our seasoned players who were nearing the end of their careers, including Dimas Delgado, Erik Paartalu, and a number of others,” Bengaluru FC Parth Jindal said. “It takes some time for the squad and the players to adjust to a new manager and a new management style, and we could see that in the first few months the results were not in our favor. We were, I believe, near the bottom of the standings when we had a run of excellent performances that nearly got us into the playoffs.”
“We’ve spent a lot of time going over our original plans, and I believe we’ve prepared ourselves well for the coming season,” he added. “The way our young players contributed and excelled last season, whether it was Roshan or our young goalie, was quite encouraging. However, things didn’t go as planned off the field, which forced us to decide—after what I’d consider being a successful season—to split ways with Marco.”
