Espanyol forward Wu Lei is exploring a potential move to Wolverhampton Wanderer’s side of the Premier League. The Chinese Player of the Year has a deal with Espanyol until December 31, 2020, and he planned to remain at the club regardless of whether Los Periquitos manages to continue in LaLiga Santander or whether they are relegated to LaLiga SmartBank.
Wu Lei ‘s goal in the remainder of this campaign is to give his all so that Espanyol can stay in the top Spanish flight, with the Catalan side currently getting six safety points with 11 matches to go in LaLiga Santander.
In January 2019, Espanyol paid two million euros to buy Wu Lei from Shanghai SIPG and his arrival allowed the club to grow significantly in China, while LaLiga also benefited from this growth on the Asian market.
Wu Lei scored seven goals for Espanyol this season in 38 appearances, and he played last-32 tie against Wolves in both legs of the Los Periquitos’ Europa League in February, which the English side won 6-3 on aggregate.
