Manchester United has reportedly made an offer to Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly for £71 million-but the Italian side is holding out for £89 million.
Senegal International is considered to be one of the best defenders in the world and his six-year stay in Naples could end this summer.
Sky Sports Italia reported that the 28-year-old United has launched a bid while Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also pursuing its signature.
Napoli is said to have declined an offer for Koulibaly above £ 100 million last summer but their value has since fallen considerably. This is also a major drop from last year when Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed he had declined a bid for Koulibaly of €120 million.
This had come from the Old Trafford side and was widely reported as well.
The Serie A outfit had a poor season with Carlo Ancelotti being sacked in November as well as a controversy surrounding player mutiny.
It’s very likely the club will miss out on this season’s Champions League football as they languish in the sixth, nine points behind Atalanta. United would pair Koulibaly with club captain Harry Maguire who made the Red Devils the world’s most expensive defender last year when they paid £ 80 million.
United continues to be linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho elsewhere on the transfer front.
