Since fears of losing rising star Jeremy Ngakia have grown, West Ham seems to be on the lookout for a new right-back. The Hammers have found the perfect substitute for Barcelona right-back Moussa Wague.
Ideally, West Ham would prefer to work out the contract situation for Ngakia, instead of signing a brand-new player. Nakia has yet to sign a contract extension, and with his new deal scheduled to expire at the end of July, the Hammers need to get a replacement lined up.
Matty Money, Gonzalo Montiel, and now Moussa Wague of Barca have linked the Hammers with several right-backs in the last few months. Wague has been on loan at Nice since January but he has agreed not to trigger his purchase option due to the current financial situation.
West Ham could now pounce for the 21-year-old who doesn’t seem to have a future in Barcelona but at London Stadium could become a key player. Wague found minutes challenging to get through at the Nou Camp but succeeded in his short time in France.
In Ligue 1, the Senegalese international appeared five times assisting two goals and posting an excellent pass accuracy of 80 percent. Though the full-back isn’t all attack, Wague averages 1.5 tackles every ninety minutes, which means he can stand up to attackers on his field.
Wague is built for space and has a strong engine on him, which means he can manage the flanks for whole matches. The pace the defender carries ensures he is faster up and down than anyone else.
The graduate from La Masia is currently estimated at £ 6 million so the Hammers won’t have to break the bank for him. Barcelona will likely be willing to let him go out on loan again with another option at the end of the loan to buy the player.
