The English League is close to reaching an agreement with the government to get back to work according to the newspaper ‘The Times.’
The Premier League could come back to action as soon as 8 June and end on 27 July. This is after the league worked with the government to arrange when sporting activities will take place once again.
In a report by ‘The Times,’ the Premier League “is close to reaching an agreement with the government” to restart the competition in early June and end before the month of August. If that were to happen, it will also entail extending player contracts for another 30 days.
English football stopped on March 13 with 10 game weeks left to play. Liverpool was on the verge of winning the league title but positions were still quite undecided in Europe and relegation. A return on June 8th till July 27th will see the remaining 92 matches take place over 2 months.
Coaching staff members, players, and referees will need to check it before any football would return. Each match was to be played behind closed doors.
The study also indicates that each side is pocketing £10 m compensation for revenue lost as a result of playing in vacant stadia.
