After their recent domestic success, the former Reds captain praised Jurgen Klopp’s squad seven Gerrard congratulated Liverpool’s “fantastic” squad on Thursday after the club was crowned champions of the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool can not be held at the top of the table after Manchester City fell to Stamford Bridge at Chelsea.
It was the first league title of Liverpool since 1990 in a performance they never gained as a player in the team during the 17 years of Gerrard. Gerrard, along with members of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), congratulated Liverpool and Klopp.
The Rangers boss wrote on Instagram:
“Felicitations to all of @liverpoolfc for winning the Premier League. Amazing achievement from a fantastic top player squad. Led by a world-class manager and coaching team, there’s also a special mention for FSG ‘s backing. And last but most importantly, the fans who have been waiting for 30 years. Let the party continue.”
Another club hero in Sir Kenny Dalglish ‘s form was also swift to pay tribute to Klopp ‘s men for ending an extremely long wait for another league title.
Dalglish told BT Sport: “It’s been really good for the past two years and since Jurgen came in. He’s been great and epitomizes everything Liverpool Football Club stands for. We have a lot of good days to look forward to as long as Jurgen is here. Anfield has been fantastically supportive from top to bottom inside the football club.
You know exactly how much that means. Dominating the English league alongside quality like Manchester City, by the way, is hard work!”
“I’m very happy with everybody linked to the football club. Jurgen [Klopp] did a great job. The highlight was the camaraderie inside the team and how everyone supported the team. The game last night was a massive example of that. They played with pace and never gave time to Crystal Palace on the ball. It’s all the club atmosphere, you won’t win anything without a great dressing room, and they got that.”
At the Etihad versus Manchester City on July 2 Liverpool will now expect to secure a few days off and celebrate their title victory with their next league game set for the play.
