Next season the services of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are expected to retain Paris Saint-Germain. Speculation has persisted since last summer about a possible escape for the couples who have admirers in Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.

However, Javier Tebas, chief of La Liga, suggested that the Spanish giants would concentrate on cutting costs in the run-up to the next campaign, rather than attempting to make a risky bid for either player. That will play its part in PSG, according to L’Equipe, being able to retain the two most important properties at the Parc des Princes by 2021. It was claimed earlier this month that Mbappe was ready to sign a new contract, provided it included a release clause that would be affordable to Real in the future. As it stands, the two players have PSG deals until the end of the campaign 2021-22

The pair have dominated world football and the Balon d’Or in the past decade as part of their battle in the tradition of the greatest football players ever. But as the pair reaches the end of their glittering careers, Wenger has admitted that in the post-Messi / Ronaldo era, football will be forced to adapt.
