Director of Bayern Munich Oliver Kahn says he’s “skeptical” about any big transfers being made this summer at the club, amid ongoing reports linking them to Leroy Stable and Kai Havertz.
Bayern is one of the top European clubs associated with Leverkusen’s Havertz, who has emerged as one of the Bundesliga ‘s brightest talents in the last couple of years.
The 20-year-old has scored 15 goals and put eight assists in 38 outings in all competitions for the side of Peter Bosz in 2019-20, and has been in red-hot form since the German top-flight resumption on May 18.
It is claimed that Bayern has also chased a deal for Calm and is expected to revive their long-held interest in the winger as the transfer market reopens.
Because of a cruciate ligament injury, which also postponed any possible move to the Allianz Arena, Manchester City star has missed the entire 2019-20 campaign to date.
However, Kahn is not sure that the coronavirus outbreak would encourage Bayern to do any substantial business, with top clubs likely to tighten their purse strings after a two-month football hiatus.
The Bayern manager told Sky 90: “There are entirely different things to handle at the moment. I’m very cautious when the business starts at all. Like with other European teams, we are looking at everything at the moment. I didn’t consider the clubs willing to make big transfers.’
Kahn added on Bayern’s interest in Havertz and Sane: “Havertz is, of course, a top talent, a fantastic player, but that doesn’t mean Bayern is interested in all those good players. He’s got a permanent contract until 2022.
Bayern may not end upbringing in new players during the summer, but they are likely to start negotiations with some main performers for new contracts.
Goalkeeper of the first-choice Manuel Neuer has already been bound to fresh terms until 2023, and Kahn says Thiago and David Alaba will follow suit soon.
