The Health Ministry Sandra Zampa confirms that ‘under the Series A policy, without a doubt, if anyone tests positive for COVID-19 inside a club, everything stops.’
The government and the CTS (scientific committee) sent the medical procedure back to the FIGC, advising that adjustments needed to be made before they would allow on Monday to resume contact training.
The most significant argument is that if someone inside the group, whether a player or a staff member, tests positive for COVID-19 after group training has ended, then the whole squad needs to go into quarantine for 15 days. That is not what the models of the Bundesliga or Premier League suggest, which is just to isolate the individual who tested the positive.
“Without a doubt, if someone in a club tests positive for COVID-19, it all ends,” Sandra Zampa, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health, told Kiss Napoli Radio.
“The quarantine is automatic, and it ends the entire season. If you don’t resist, then, you will be stopped by a virus. Loving football means taking care of the people employed inside it.
“The only reason we ‘re thinking about resuming Series A is because of the economic effects.” Series B is increasingly unlikely to restart because the clubs are not as financially prepared to meet the rigorous procedure as the top flight teams are doing.”
