Barcelona’s hero, Rivaldo, urged Arthur to remain in the club despite rumors linking him to a Juventus transfer. It is understood that this summer the Italian champions have set the 23-year-old as a possible target and are keen to see him included in the swap deal, bringing Miralem Pjanic in the opposite direction.
Barcelona, however, is reluctant to lose Arthur, and Rivaldo is confident that his countryman will have what it takes to become a regular first-time member of the squad at Camp Nou.
“Rumors are circulating that Barcelona might be interested in signing Miralem Pjanic from Juventus and, despite being a good player, I think that the club should focus more on the present and on what to do in LaLiga this season, as for Betfair, Rivaldo wrote.
“There’s going to be time to think about transfers, particularly because some have to leave before others come in, so the club wants to be sure they don’t build a squad that’s too large that will leave any players without the opportunity to play.
Juventus seems interested in a possible swap of Pjanic for Arthur Melo and of Rivaldo think the Brazilian will be a fantastic signing for the Italians because he’s a world-class player. However, Rivaldo also thinks Arthur will stay in Barcelona because he’s young and recently arrived at the club. Hopefully he’ll cement his place in the first team and start fulfilling his possible, added Rivaldo.
Arthur has made 23 appearances this season for Barcelona, scoring four goals and creating four more.
