Real Madrid is involved in Igor Gomes but for the midfielder, Sao Paulo has not obtained any formal approach. Barcelona, Sevilla, and Ajax were all linked to a bid for Gomes and Rai, São Paulo’s executive football director recognized many European teams, noticed the 21-year-old’s talent.
In recent seasons, Madrid has invested heavily in Brazilian talent picking up Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Reinier Jesus, with Gomes’ agent Wagner Ribeiro confirming last month that he was keen to take the man to Los Blancos.

When asked whether there was anything in the ties with Madrid, Rai told Globo Esporte: “It’s real. What we can argue is Igor Gomes is a player who is attracting the interest of European clubs. And there was no official correspondence. It is a case in which he sparks curiosity.” “I have always spoken to European friends who have made remarks, but that is it.

General Manager Alexandre Passaro added: “This has not been formally addressed by Real Madrid or any other team. What we do know is that Real Madrid loves and supports Igor even as they follow many other young talents across the globe, several of them inside our team. However Igor will be able to acquire a Portuguese passport in the next six months, ensuring he wouldn’t be taking up a foreign player spot at a European club. But now nothing’s happening.”
Igor Gomes’ lawyer, Wagner Ribeiro, reported last month that it was his ‘dream’ to take his client to Real Madrid. Gomes will be in touch until 2023 and has a €50 m release clause registered.
In the past, Brazil’s U-23 international, which was marketed as ‘the new Kaka,’ was linked to Barcelona, Sevilla, and Ajax because of its stunning form, despite having just a meager 31 league appearance to its credit.
The official approach from Los Blancos or any European outfit has yet to be established.
