The Premier League has confirmed that its latest round of coronavirus testing contains a new positive case.
The results were from the seventh round, where on Monday and Tuesday, 1213 players and club personnel were tested.
COVID-19’s first six rounds of testing returned 13 positives and 6,261 negatives. This week’s testing will begin with the next batch of tests scheduled to be published Saturday.
Top-flight action in England is scheduled to resume as Aston Villa plays Sheffield United and Manchester City face Arsenal on June 17th.
Manchester United was forced at the last minute on Tuesday to cancel a friendly with Stoke after Michael O’Neill, manager of the Championship side, tested positive for COVID-19.
The sides had to meet at the Carrington Training Center in United, but the match was immediately dropped without kicking a ball when the Northern Irishman tested positive, with United insisting that none of their squad came into contact with him.

Reporter Geraint Hughes on Sky Sports News:
Cautious optimism is how all these test results were viewed because individually and collectively they have to be analyzed.
But out of the 7,487 tests carried out, there were 14 positive returns, which is roughly 0.2 percent, so again an encouraging sign.
Since the start of the Premier League is a week away, only two positives will be taken with great heart from the previous four rounds of testing, not only by the Premier League but by Public Health England and the government.
