Memphis Depay’s target for Milan is ‘more likely to look elsewhere’ if Lyon isn’t admitted to Europe, club president Jean-Michel Aulas said. The Rossoneri has shown interest in the 26-year-old, who approached him last year. His contract only expires in June 2021 and reportedly the Dutchman is recovering from a fractured anterior cruciate ligament.

The Netherlands winger has been on Rossoneri’s radar since his early days at PSV but at the time Galliani struggled to reach an agreement and the player moved to England. Gifted with great technique and creativity, Depay still lacks consistency and constancy, two areas in which he needs to develop to become a top player but given his young age, time is on his side.
“Memphis told me he’ll be able to address the situation when he gets back,” Aulas told Le Progres. “His agents said he’ll be more likely to look elsewhere if we don’t play in Europe next season.”The question, in this case, is that Milan isn’t in the European spots at the moment either, meaning they could face intense competition from elsewhere.
Depay had scored 14 goals in 18 competitive games this season before his knee injury.
