According to a report in El Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City has informed Barcelona of their interest in signing the versatile Sergi Roberto.
City transfer chief Txiki Begiristain is said to have led the interest with Pep Guardiola ‘s blessing, though the study clarifies how any move will need to be a straight-forward money contract.
The name came up between the two clubs in informal transfer talks between the two clubs, with full-backs Nelson Semedo and Joao Cancelo said they might be involved in this summer’s swap deal.

According to the media outlet, Barca is clear about one thing: players in exchange for Sergi Roberto will not be approved. While it will accept other players in exchange for Semedo, only a large amount of money will see Sergi Roberto leave. The Catalans need money to make signings of high quality and there are players for whom they do not consider offers. Or will they only do so under certain circumstances
Twenty-eight-year – old Sergi Roberto is signed at Camp Nou, where he spent his entire professional career, until 2022, with his deal expected to reach a critical time later this year.
He has made 274 first-team appearances for the Blaugrana and, despite being naturally a central midfielder, has frequently been deployed ahead of Semedo in recent seasons at the right-back.
With six La Liga championships, two Champions League titles, and five Copa del Rey victories, Sergi Roberto has played a prominent squad role.
Mundo Deportivo talked about the growing interest Man City has shown in the Barca academy team. At this point, it is not clear who will be Barcelona’s right-back for the season 2020-21. While Barcelona is insisting on selling Nelson Semedo, over the last few hours Man City has taken an interest in Sergi Roberto.
