Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reported that promising winger Leroy Sane has declined the new contract offer from the club and will leave the club this summer as long as they obtain a suitable offer or at the end of their contract when it expires in the summer of 2021.
The 24-year-old German international hasn’t been playing since he suffered a torn ACL in August 2019 and faced an uphill struggle to become a regular starter despite being healthy now.
“Leroy said he doesn’t want to prolong the deal because it means he wants to leave and that will happen this summer or when he’s out of the deal. The club talked to me, they wanted to extend his deal two or three times, he declined it because it means he wants to play at another club,” said Guardiola during the press conference on Friday.
If we arrive at a deal with another club at the end of this season, he will leave. If he doesn’t stay for another year and leave when out of the contract.

Sane has always been linked to a move to Bayern Munich and a move makes perfect sense to both parties. The city needs to get rid of a player who doesn’t fit in with their plans anymore and doesn’t want to be there, while Sane is searching for regular minutes.
Sane shined with 14 goals in the 2017-18 season and followed up with 16 in the next season, though his position gradually began to change towards more than one bench player. He has appeared in only one match this season because of the injury.
For City, keeping a player with that potential would be nice, but the club has no shortage of options to attack with Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and others.
