To win a picture with Lionel Messi, La Liga said it is considering legal action against the man who rushed on to the pitch during Real Mallorca ‘s back-closed-door match against Barcelona on Saturday.
By entering the pitch early in the second half, the fan, wearing an Argentina shirt with Messi’s name and number 10 on the back, violated strict security measures aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus.
A statement from La Liga on Sunday said that the man had access to the pitch “without any authorization and disobeying the protocols established by health legislation and disobeying the security staff’s orders.”
La Liga also wishes to express its absolute condemnation of this type of behavior which endangers the health of others and risks damaging the integrity of the competition.
After being ejected by security forces and police, the fan, a French resident of Mallorca, spoke to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, disclosing he had scaled a two-meter fence to enter the stadium.
“Because I knew the match was happening, I had arranged this, I wanted a picture with Messi and to meet him because he is my hero,” he said.
Mallorca said that they checked how the fan got into the stadium.
