Germany’s international Lukas Klostermann agreed to an extension of his contract at RB Leipzig until June 2024, keeping him in the club.
Lukas Klostermann and RB Leipzig have signed a contract extension, the club has reported. The contract for the full-back had been due to run out in 2021, but it has now been extended until the summer of 2024.
In 2014 the flexible defender joined Leipzig, after being elevated to the two. Bundesliga and made 159 appearances for the side, scoring 11 goals and assisting 10 in all competitions. Klostermann played under Julian Nagelsmann 33 times in 2019-20, helping them to finish third in the Bundesliga – five points ahead of Bayern Munich’s leaders – and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
“I’m pleased to have renewed my deal at RB Leipzig and now there’s certainty about my future,” Klostermann said in a statement. “I feel very confident in the team and the community, have always had confidence here, and have become a senior international player here.”
Markus Krosche, director of sports, added: “Lukas is one of our absolute best performers, and despite being only 23 years old. He is also a very accomplished player who has made tremendous progress with us so far.”
Klostermann’s national team debut was with Serbia in March 2019 in a 1-1 draw.
