In October 2015, Klopp called himself the ‘normal one’ taking the reins at Anfield – and the Liverpool boss said it hadn’t changed.
He told the Mirror: “I’m still the normal one. ‘I Am Not Special’. I have a few skills and, luckily, they ‘re needed in football, which is something I love, but that’s all. I’m not special. I think I’m a good guy, I’m. It sounds boring but, it’s the truth.”
Klopp has won the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup since taking over responsibility for Liverpool.
Yet the 53-year-old, having managed in June against Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson – who turns 73 next month – has no intention of prolonging too long his managerial career.
Klopp said: “At that age, I don’t see myself doing that. I thought when I became a manager. Right, 25 power years are starting right now. I was in Mainz for seven and a half years, in Dortmund for seven years and will be 23 and a half in 2024. I don’t have any plans after that.”
