Barcelona’s center-back Clement Lenglet has revealed that the introduction of the five-substitution rule as a player is favorable. The number of games that will be played without much space between them, coupled with travel and warm temperatures, means that this will help many footballers, even though Barcelona coach Quique Setien believes it could work against him.
Lenglet spoke to Movistar (via Marca) about the new five-substitution rule. He said he doesn’t know if the new five substitutions are going to affect the team.
“We don’t know if it’s going to affect us,” Lenglet said when asked Movistar about the new five-substitution rule.
“Hopefully, the player should benefit from it as we’re going to have a lot of games in the sun every month and a lot of travel. “We’ll support the footballer, we’ll see [about how it helps] Barcelona. “We know it’s a gamble to play so many games with a two-month break and sun, but we’ll plan as best we can.”This is going to be a fresh 11-match league and we’ll need to get as many points as we can to qualify. It’s like starting over again,” Lenglet added.
