Hoffenheim sacked coach Alfred Schreuder four games before the end of the season over disagreements about how they thought the team will grow, said Tuesday the Bundesliga party. Schreuder, who had a contract till 2022, had arrived from Ajax Amsterdam at the start of the season. His brother and assistant Dick Schreuder will also leave.
“We had different opinions on important detail issues so the collaboration past the end of the season didn’t make sense,” said sports director Alexander Rosen in a statement.
Hoffenheim is seventh on 43 points and fighting for next season’s Europa League spot. Other Club coaches will direct the side through the remaining games.
“Unfortunately we weren’t able to decide on a shared course for the team’s future. I regret this development, but in your professional life it is not unusual to have different opinions,” Schreuder said.
