Hernan Crespo described Lautaro Martinez as a “full player” and wants to snub Barcelona forward in favor of staying at Inter. After an impressive season in San Siro, Lautaro, 22, is strongly linked with a move to the Liga giants, scoring 16 goals in 31 games in 2019–20.
Ex-Inter and Argentina striker Crespo, however, believes that a fellow countryman should stay there before moving on and establish himself further.
“I would like him to remain at Inter because it was his first year as a starter. I wish he had a little more solid grounding before another change comes. Trains slow down at the best stations and Lautaro is one of them,” Crespo said on YouTube to David de las Heras while discussing the future of Lautaro.
Crespo, now Defensa y Justicia’s head coach, has won three Serie A titles with Inter, where Chelsea’s one-time forward spent four seasons.
The 44-year-old likes what he saw from Lautaro who already has nine international goals for Argentina in 17 appearances.
“He’s an intense, centered kid. I like that. He’s got a lot of personalities,” Crespo said.
Only Messi and Lautaro are planning to return to the pitch in La Liga and Series A respectively, with the season’s coronavirus-enforced break set to end.
The Spanish top-flight is scheduled to kick-off against Real Betis with Seville again on June 11. The Italian football fans can look forward on the weekend of June 20 across their top three leagues for a full schedule of activities.
