Since signing a one-year contract extension with the club, Francesc Xavier Garcia Pimienta is expected to continue as the Barcelona B manager.
The club announced that an extension should have been accepted by the 45-year-old, just three hours before the conclusion of Garcia Pimienta’s Barcelona deal. His new term extends until 30 June 2021.
If Quique Setien fails to turn things around, it’s expected that the coach will end up at the first pick.
In the Champions League, ESPN announced that ‘Pimi’ will lead Blaugrana as Setien will stay as a coach until the league campaign is over.
For now, Garcia Pimienta’s main target is to attain promotion to Segunda Division with the reserves. Their first playoff match is scheduled for 19 July as they face off against Real Valladolid’s B team.
The news is a big boost for Barca B after a strong season. They will be back in action next month where they will expect to win promotion through the playoffs.
For Barca B, who also announced that Chumi, Kike Saverio, Sergi Puig, and Guillem Jaime would all leave the club, it has been a busy day.
