A provisional schedule for the remaining rounds of the 2019-20 FA Cup has been announced by the Football Association, with the final hope to be played on August 1.
On Thursday it was announced that the English Premier League season would resume on June 17, with the first full collection of weekend fixtures marked in for June 19-21, pending approval by the government.
The FA Cup is also due to begin, with the quarter-finals scheduled for 27 and 28 June and the semi-finals on 18 and 19 July. The quarter-final matches were drawn on March 9 but due to the coronavirus pandemic that triggered a worldwide suspension of competitive football, the games were unable to take place.
Holders Manchester City was drawn into one of four all-Premier League ties at Newcastle United. Leicester City will host Chelsea, Sheffield United play Arsenal and Manchester United will travel to Norwich City.
The Premier League season will begin on June 17 with one of the first matches to be played in Manchester City ‘s clash with Arsenal-and all 92 remaining matches will be televised live.
Aston Villa ‘s home clash with Sheffield United is another one that will mark the return of the top English flight, both matching the two games left unplayed before the pandemic coronavirus stopping football.
The agreement to resume came after clubs in the Premier League met on Thursday to continue discussions on ‘Restart Project.’ All games are played behind closed doors.
It was also confirmed that all the remaining games of the season will be shown in the UK on the currently broadcasting channels of the league-Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC, and Amazon Prime.
After both Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi had tested positive for Covid-19, it was decided to temporarily suspend the season back on March 13.
