After crashing into a two-goal home loss to Osasuna, who are now just two points off the top half, Eibar remains in relegation trouble.
In the sixth and 74th minutes respectively, Ruben Garcia struck twice for the visitors to earn a third consecutive La Liga victory on the run for Jagoba Arrasate ‘s side.
Going into that fixture, Eibar had won consecutive La Liga victories over Valencia and Granada respectively to lift them out of the drop zone, but Mallorca ‘s 5-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Tuesday has again narrowed the gap.
As things stand, the hand of Jose Luis Mendillibar is 16th – one point above Celta, seventeenth, and crucially, six points behind Mallorca and the drop zone.
Eibar must still be optimistic that their top-flight status will be safe, particularly as two of their remaining fixtures are against Leganes and Espanyol, the two bottom sides of the current standings.
During their first season back on top-flight, Osasuna is up to 11th and practically secure mathematically, and are just two points from Valencia and the top half.
