Chelsea manager Frank Lampard confirmed that if the 2019-20 campaign can resume, the club will look at extending Olivier Giroud, Pedro, and Willian’s deals. All three players will be out of contract at the end of June, and the trio has been regularly linked with moves away from the club over the past couple of weeks.
Giroud, Pedro, and Willian were all on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s last match-a 4-0 win over Everton-and Lampard said he’d want the three players on board if the campaign restarts. “We’ve got big players [out of contract] so that’s something I ‘m looking at very carefully, “Lampard told Sky Sports News.
“It’s still unclear whether and when the play will start.” The ones out of contract here have been excellent club workers, so they have a lot of club feeling.
“Of course they ‘re going to be worried about themselves, about how the training is now and if the pre-season is a rush they ‘re going to have to make sure they ‘re all right. So it’s going to have to be something we need to look at, hopefully, we can make that arrangement so that they can stay with us. I’m so fond of looking at the squad like it has all season, so we’ll have to see how it works.”
Chelsea still ranks fourth with nine games remaining in the Premier League table, three points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United.
