On Sunday Celta Vigo thrashed Alaves 6-0 to pull away from the relegation zone, making the most of the visiting side with a player sending off in the first half. In the match of the 30th round of the Spanish Primera, Celta hosted Alaves.
In the 14th minute, Jeison Murillo headed Celta in the front corner before their leading scorer Iago Aspas scored from the penalty spot, making amends for the 0-0 spot-kick at Real Valladolid in the mid-week.
Things got worse for Alaves when a straight red card was shown in the 27th minute to Martin Aguirregabiria and Celta twisted the knife further into the visitors as Rafinha scored twice in the space of two minutes before the break to make it 4-0.
After signing from Seville in the middle of the week, Nolito enjoyed an ideal return in his first match for Celta, scoring from the penalty spot soon after coming on as a substitute and then laying on a pass for Santi Mina to complete the route in 86th.
Until kick-off, Celta hovered one point above the relegation zone but the victory brought them up to 16th on 30 points, four ahead of 18th-placed Real Mallorca with eight games remaining. Alaves, on 35, is 13th.
Later on Sunday, Valencia is hosting Osasuna who needs a win to kick-start their bid to get back into the top four while Real Madrid is visiting Real Sociedad with an opportunity to top the standings.
