Carlo Ancelotti praised his Everton side for their defense against Liverpool but admitted that they had opportunities at the other end. Everton limited their rivals to a goalless draw after they returned to the action of the Premier League. Liverpool may be closing in on the title of the league but it was Everton who came closest to scoring when Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies had a late double chance.
And although Ancelotti was a little disappointed at how close his side came to taking all three points, he was pleased with their level of success.

Ancelotti said at the press conference, “We were close to winning, honestly, but it was a tough, hard game. We did a very good job. We focused, we sacrificed. In the end, we had chances to win. Liverpool played well, they had more possession but we were still strong defensively. We tried to build from behind, offensively. They were pressing very high and finding a solution from behind was hard so we decided to play long ball.”
