After private negotiations, Borussia Dortmund and the goalkeeper Roman Bürki agreed to a premature extension of the deal. Bürki ‘s term, which had been set to expire in 2021, will now continue for another two years until 30 June 2023.
“We are pleased that we will continue to have one of the most consistent target keepers in the Bundesliga between the Roman Bürki sticks. That means we secured an excellent player for an important position in the long term. For Roman, it speaks volumes that he has already kept 12 clean sheets this season, “announced sporting director Michael Zorc.
Swiss shot-stopper Roman Bürki came to Dortmund in the summer of 2015, from fellow Bundesliga team SC Freiburg. He’s since made 206 competitive appearances and holding 75 clean sheets for BVB.
“I am very happy at Borussia Dortmund and feel the confidence that the club management, the coach, and my fellow players have placed in me,” the 29-year-old said.
