Robert Lewandowski scored his 50th and 51st goals of the season as Bayern Munich won their 20th DFB Pokal Cup after comfortably beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-2.
Hansi Flich ‘s team dominated the first half, helped by Leverkusen’s sluggishness off the field, and took the lead thanks to a superb free-kick from veteran David Alaba.
Peter Bosch ‘s men struggled to push upfront, despite Leon Bailey ‘s support, and found themselves 2-0 down for his 20th goal of the season, following Serge Gnabry ‘s calm finish.
At the break, Bosch took Kevin Volland and Kerem Demirbay but, after a long-range volley that came in after Lukas Hradecky’s howler, failed to prevent the momentum with Lewandowski scoring the Bundesliga champions’ third goal.
When Sven Bender headed in from a corner, Leverkusen gave himself some hope, but Lewandowski added a fourth before a late Kai Havertz penalty as the Bavarians completed the league and cup double.
