Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hopeful the team will conclude short-term transactions before midnight for Cedric Soares, Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, and Pablo Mari.
Premier League clubs have until midnight tonight to negotiate on short term contract extensions with players whose terms expire at the end of June.
Arsenal has four players falling under that group-with the loan arrangements for Ceballos, Cedric, and Mari expiring instead, with Luiz ‘s term ending on June 30. The team is currently focused on completing talks with all parties, but Arteta is optimistic that this will be done in due course.
He said in his press conference before the match: “The timing of it, and any of the procedural issues associated with it, was quite difficult. The club is attempting to finalize everything in the next few hours. We have no choice, we need to do something even more so, despite the accidents that we have suffered. To resolve this is what we are trying to do. I ‘m confident that we can. I hope they do.
Arsenal is looking to make Mari ‘s contract permanent after the player has been placed on loan by the Brazilian side Flamengo.
“I think there have been some procedural issues to solve there, but we also plan to retain it.”
