Antonio Conte has yelled at the media and Inter opponents following a 6-0 win over Brescia. ‘Strike me, not those players and not the club.’ The Nerazzurri gave Brescia short shrift at San Siro, with a strong performance.
Conte said: “We did a good job of winning, but I also loved the spirit of a squad that never stopped attacking, our foot was still on the accelerator. We scored six goals and conceded zero, so that should be a cause for satisfaction. Good people still watch Inter, but others just want to see the glass half-empty and not half-full. We want issues to be produced but I don’t mind that. But attack me and not the club or those players.”
“We ‘re working hard, we’ve made the most of the lockout to do something new on a tactical level and I’ve liked the team because I’ve seen ideas and scenarios that we’ve been putting into action. The performance doesn’t always suit the outcome, but that doesn’t mean everything is bad. Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen had a rest and after a 3-1 win over Sampdoria, Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez had just started together in Serie A for the second time. It was to bring consistency to the side that we signed Alexis Sanchez,” Conte said.
“He’s not the player I lived in England but he’s on the right track. He got on with the right attitude against Parma and I saw him working very hard today. I ‘m pleased with Victor Moses because he worked at Chelsea with me and if he’s physically in good shape he can become a protagonist. This is a team that can’t be reproached in terms of spirit, kindness, and dedication, but they need to be more disciplined, make fewer mistakes and be less naïve because often those accidents make us lose points that can be psychologically devastating.”
“All in all it is a young squad and needs to develop in that context.”
