The Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic is set to resume following a three-month break in less than three weeks.
English football follows in the footsteps of the Bundesliga, where, after the first few rounds of fixtures, a return to action behind closed doors has proved popular.
Manchester City will be one of the first teams to kick off the restart on June 17 at the Etihad as they play their game against Arsenal in hand.
The city seems to have lost the race to retain their 3rd season Premier League title with Liverpool 25 points away from City and on track for the first time winning the Premier League trophy.
Nevertheless, City looks likely to finish second, raising concerns about their short-term future in the Champions League with the club’s appeal against a two-year ban from the competition being heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport next week.
While there doesn’t seem to be that much left to play in the Premier League for this word, striker Aguero must hold one hand on the competition for the Golden Boot.
The 31-year-old has 16 goals this season so far, equal Liverpool’s Mo Salah but one fewer than Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The trio is still three goals behind current top scorer Jamie Vardy who found the net 19 times.
Southampton’s Danny Ings scored 15 goals while Sadio Mane and Marcus Rashford scored 14.
